Mark van Doorn

Mathijs van Ark is fysiotherapeut, bewegingswetenschapper en expert op het gebied van peesblessures. Hij is als hogeschooldocent verbonden aan de opleiding Fysiotherapie van de Hanze, waar hij onderwijs combineert met praktijkgericht onderzoek. Daarnaast is hij werkzaam als fysiotherapeut bij het Peescentrum van het Expertisecentrum Fysiotherapie Groningen, waar hij zich richt op de diagnostiek en behandeling van complexe peesblessures. Hij promoveerde op peesblessures en doet onderzoek naar de diagnostiek, behandeling en revalidatie van peesletsels, met een bijzondere focus op de onderste extremiteit

Ewoud Jacobs behaalde met grote onderscheiding zijn Master of Science in de Revalidatiewetenschappen en Kinesitherapie aan de Universiteit Gent. Na het behalen van zijn master werkte hij als sportkinesitherapeut bij praktijk Care To Cure en Rugby Club Hamme, waar hij sporters begeleidde tijdens hun revalidatie en terugkeer naar sport. Deze praktijkervaring vormt een belangrijke basis voor zijn huidige onderwijs- en onderzoeksactiviteiten op het gebied van Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFR).

Vervolgens maakte hij de overstap naar de academische wereld. In 2025 promoveerde hij aan de Universiteit Gent op onderzoek naar Blood Flow Restriction Training, in samenwerking met de Vakgroep Revalidatiewetenschappen en de afdeling Orthopedie en Traumatologie van het Universitair Ziekenhuis Gent.

Tijdens zijn doctoraat combineerde hij wetenschappelijk onderzoek met onderwijsactiviteiten als onderwijsassistent aan de Universiteit Gent. Daarnaast begeleidde hij diverse masterproeven over BFR en is hij sinds 2022 docent van BFR-cursussen in binnen- en buitenland.

Naast zijn academische werkzaamheden deed Ewoud ruime praktijkervaring op binnen de sportrevalidatie. Tussen 2021 en 2024 was hij actief betrokken bij de revalidatie en return-to-play begeleiding van sporters bij KAA Gent en KFC Merelbeke.

Zijn onderzoek resulteerde in meerdere wetenschappelijke publicaties in internationale toptijdschriften, waaronder het British Journal of Sports Medicine en Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases. In 2025 won hij bovendien de Vlaamse PhD Cup met zijn onderzoek naar innovatieve trainingsmethoden voor mensen met knieartrose.

Momenteel is Ewoud werkzaam als postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij de European Space Agency (ESA) en als Visiting Fellow aan Northumbria University (Newcastle). Zijn onderzoek richt zich op het ontwikkelen van effectieve strategieën om de negatieve effecten van gewichtloosheid op het menselijk lichaam tegen te gaan, waarbij blood flow restriction een belangrijke rol speelt.

Jiri Rutten is fysiotherapeut & manueel therapeut bij Fysiotherapie Utrecht Oost (www.fysiopraktijk.nl). Fysiotherapie Utrecht Oost is eerstelijns praktijk die zich toelegt op revalidatie van sport- en orthopedische problematiek.

Naast zijn werkzaamheden in de praktijk, is Jiri ook wekelijks aanwezig op de kniepoli in het Diakonessenhuis te Utrecht.  Zijn expertisegebieden zijn diagnostiek en revalidatie van knie- en enkelletsel, zowel conservatief als postoperatief. 

Marcel Mutsaarts is gespecialiseerd in de praktische toepassing van AI in het onderwijs en de bredere beroepspraktijk. Hij is mede-oprichter van aivoordocenten.nl, het grootste Nederlandse platform over AI voor professionals in het onderwijs.

Marcel ondersteunt organisaties bij het effectief inzetten van AI, met als doel tijdsbesparing en kwaliteitsverbetering in onder meer administratie, communicatie en routinematige werkzaamheden. Hij verzorgde keynotes, trainingen en workshops voor tientallen organisaties, zowel binnen als buiten het onderwijs.

Daarnaast is Marcel als docent verbonden aan de HAN-ALO (Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen), waar hij zijn achtergrond als cognitief psycholoog combineert met meer dan 25 jaar ervaring in het hoger onderwijs. Hij is co-auteur van het boek De Toekomstbestendige Docent en co-host van de podcast Het AI-tussenuurtje.

Sjaco is naast fysiotherapeut ook manueel therapeut. Sinds 2013 runt hij zijn Jordens Fysio Medisch Centrum, een multidisciplinair centrum met zo’n 35 werknemers.

Zijn nieuwe passie sinds 2014 is het maken van echo’s van het lichaam. Spieren, pezen, slijmbeurs kunnen mooi in beeld gebracht worden, waardoor je meer gericht een keuze kunt maken welke therapie er uitgevoerd moet worden. Of zelfs dat er geen fysiotherapie uitgevoerd moet worden maar meteen weer terugverwezen moet worden naar de huisarts of specialist. Echografie is volgens Sjaco een mooie aanvulling op het fysiotherapeutisch onderzoek. Inmiddels is hij sinds 2017 verbonden aan SonoSkills, als docent Echografie MSU.

Sjaco vind het leuk om in zijn centrum collega’s te stimuleren en te zien opgroeien als veelzijdige en deskundige collega’s met een flexibele instelling. Met alle vakmensen om mij heen verzameld denk ik dat dit het juiste recept is voor een goede en doelgerichte behandeling.

Rob studies physiotherapy and manual therapy and eventually a MSc diploma from the Vrije Universiteit in Brussels in 2014. His thesis was published in an international peer-reviewed journal. Rob’s first ultrasound experience dates back to 2009 and because of his increasing interest and belief of the possibilities of musculoskeletal ultrasound he followed many courses on the subject. He has a broad interest in the application of MSK ultrasound in the areas of diagnostics and ultrasound guided procedures.

Rob teaches national and international courses on MSK ultrasound. He works as a manual therapist and MSK sonographer in primary healthcare settings. Rob also works in the secondary healthcare setting together with the orthopedic surgeon and rehabilitation doctor and performs diagnostic ultrasound scans and supports ultrasound guided procedures. He’s also board member of a local network of sonographer in the south of the Netherlands.

Collaborating and supporting each other for optimal patient and student satisfaction is one of the core beliefs of Rob.

During his MSc. at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Marc’s interest in functional human anatomy grew tremendously while dissecting and studying cadavers. It was here that his interest in observing functional human anatomy in “real time” peaked, which led to the start of embracing musculoskeletal ultrasound.

After completing numerous courses and attending conferences on the topic, he started developing his own course and SonoSkills was formed in 2010. Since then SonoSkills has taught its courses in 25 countries. Marc’s team consists out of 22 expert trainers. He teaches, next to managing SonoSkills, the foundational course and some intermediate level courses. Marc has a special interest in the shoulder joint.  

Besides his work at SonoSkills, he has been involved as being the head, and building, of a Master of Science program dedicated to MSK ultrasound. Marc has published some articles in peer reviewed journals in the field of MSK ultrasound. He also wrote a book with technical extremity scanning guidelines. Marc’s goal is spreading the knowledge of ultrasound to all healthcare professionals worldwide.

Olaf van der Zanden is fysiotherapeut en manueel therapeut met een brede academische en klinische achtergrond. Hij volgde daarnaast opleidingen in onder meer psychologie, echografie, sport & voeding en klinische Psycho-Neuro-Immunologie (kPNI).

Samen met zijn vrouw is hij eigenaar van gezondheidscentrum TopZorg Weert, waar hij werkzaam is binnen hun Topfysiotherapiepraktijk en zich richt op de behandeling van patiënten met complexe en aanhoudende klachten.

Naast zijn klinische werkzaamheden is Olaf al ruim 25 jaar verbonden aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel, waar hij actief is als wetenschapper en gedurende negen jaar als docent heeft gefungeerd. Hij combineert daarmee praktijkervaring met een sterke wetenschappelijke basis.

Olaf is tevens betrokken bij de begeleiding van topsporters als casemanager zorg bij Stichting ‘Gaan voor Goud’, waar talentvolle atleten worden ondersteund richting internationale topsportevenementen zoals de Olympische Spelen en wereldkampioenschappen.

Ook bestuurlijk is hij actief, onder meer als voorzitter van de Vereniging Topfysiotherapie en als bestuurslid van de coöperatie Eerstelijns Zorg Midden-Limburg (EZML).

Zijn expertise ligt in het analyseren en behandelen van complexe gezondheidsvraagstukken vanuit een integrale benadering, met specifieke aandacht voor de rol van immunologie, biochemie en leefstijl. Hij weet wetenschappelijke inzichten te vertalen naar praktische toepassingen binnen de fysiotherapeutische praktijk.

Olaf is een veelgevraagd spreker en verzorgt al vele jaren lezingen en cursussen over onder meer voeding, biochemie, het immuunsysteem, leefstijl, aanhoudende pijn, gezond ouder worden, (epi)genetica en het verbeteren van sportprestaties en herstel, voor zowel zorgprofessionals als een breder publiek.

Linda Hudepohl is fysiotherapeut met een specialisatie in manuele therapie en vestibulaire revalidatie. Zij behaalde haar bachelor Fysiotherapie aan de Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Nederland en vervolgde haar opleiding met een master Fysiotherapie, gespecialiseerd in manuele therapie, aan de SOMT University of Physiotherapy.

Tussen 2007 en 2017 werkte zij als fysiotherapeut in verschillende praktijken in de regio Oldenzaal en Enschede. Sinds 2017 is zij werkzaam als zelfstandig specialist binnen een fysiotherapiepraktijk verbonden aan het Medisch Spectrum Twente, waar zij zich richt op de behandeling van nekklachten, hoofdpijn en vestibulaire problematiek.

Naast haar klinische werkzaamheden is Linda actief in het onderwijs. Zij was docent aan de THIM School of Physiotherapy in Nieuwegein en is sinds 2020 gastdocent aan de Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede. Daarnaast was zij in 2022–2023 betrokken als docent binnen de masteropleiding Musculoskeletale Fysiotherapie aan dezelfde instelling.

In 2022 volgde zij de opleiding tot duizeligheids- en vestibulair therapeut bij het Instituut voor Vestibulaire Revalidatietherapie (IVRT). Sinds 2025 is zij daar actief als docent. Haar expertise wordt verder versterkt door aanvullende scholing, waaronder basis- en verdiepingscursussen binnen de CRAFTA-orofaciale fysiotherapie.

Bas van Hooren, PhD, is sportwetenschapper, kracht- en conditiespecialist en topsporter. In 2024 promoveerde hij aan de Universiteit Maastricht op onderzoek naar het voorkomen van blessures en het verbeteren van sportprestaties bij hardlopers.

Bas was actief als assistent fysiek trainer bij het Nederlands Olympisch Comité en is momenteel als sportwetenschappelijk adviseur betrokken bij diverse professionele sportorganisaties, waaronder clubs uit de Bundesliga en de Premier League.

Als atleet behaalde hij meerdere medailles op de Nederlandse kampioenschappen op afstanden van 3000 meter tot en met de halve marathon in de periode 2011–2025. In 2017 werd hij Nederlands kampioen.

Momenteel is Bas werkzaam als assistant professor aan de Universiteit Maastricht. Hij combineert zijn theoretische expertise als sportwetenschapper met uitgebreide praktijkervaring als sporter en coach, waardoor hij complexe wetenschappelijke concepten weet te vertalen naar toepasbare en evidence-based praktische toepassingen.

Bas heeft meer dan 65 wetenschappelijke artikelen gepubliceerd in internationale tijdschriften, met onderzoeksonderwerpen variërend van biomechanica tot inspanningsfysiologie. Daarnaast heeft hij in heel Europa diverse workshops en lezingen verzorgd voor uiteenlopende doelgroepen binnen de sport- en gezondheidssector.

Firat Kesgin is een internationaal erkend specialist op het gebied van vestibulaire revalidatie. Hij behaalde zijn bachelor Fysiotherapie aan de HAN University of Applied Sciences in Nederland en deed in 2012 een stage bij het gespecialiseerde duizeligheidscentrum Pacific Balance in de Verenigde Staten. Na zijn afstuderen werkte hij op de neurologische afdelingen van diverse ziekenhuizen in Hamburg, waar hij ruime klinische ervaring opdeed met complexe neurologische en vestibulaire problematiek.

In 2015 voltooide hij zijn masteropleiding Fysiotherapie aan de University of Brighton in Engeland. Datzelfde jaar richtte hij in Hamburg een particuliere praktijk op die volledig is gespecialiseerd in vestibulaire revalidatie. Daarnaast is hij sinds 2015 actief als docent vestibulaire revalidatie bij duizeligheidsklachten. Wat begon in Duitsland, groeide uit tot een internationale onderwijspraktijk in onder meer Oostenrijk, Zwitserland, Nederland, België, Luxemburg, Denemarken en Turkije.

In 2016 richtte hij het Instituut voor Vestibulaire Revalidatietherapie (IVRT®) op. In 2023 werd hij als eerste en tot nu toe enige fysiotherapeut in de gehele DACH- en BENELUX-regio officieel opgenomen als lid van de prestigieuze Bárány Society. Sinds 2025 is hij promovendus aan het Maastricht University Medical Center+, waar hij wetenschappelijk onderzoek verricht op het gebied van vestibulaire aandoeningen.

Ben Cormack owns and runs Cor-Kinetic. He is a musculoskeletal therapist with a clinical background/qualification in sports therapy, rehabilitation, & exercise stretching back over 15 years with a special interest in pain and its relation to movement. 

Ben is a popular international presenter who has delivered conferences presentations and courses all over the world. Ben specialises in a movement & exercise based approach with a strong education component and patient centred focus

Ben has authored several peer reviewed publications in the area’s of exercise, pain, rehabilitation and the biopsychosocial model

Manueel therapeut en fysiotherapeut met uitgebreide ervaring in musculoskeletale aandoeningen en eigenaar van fysiotherapiepraktijk Fyrtuoos. Edwin heeft zijn expertise toegepast bij het combineren van ademhaling en biomechanica in de behandeling van musculoskeletale klachten, met name bij patiënten met aspecifieke lage rugpijn en schouderklachten.

Between 2001-2007, Antonio Stecco obtained his Degree for Physician and Surgeon at the University of Padua. His thesis concerned “Analytical comparison of the fasciae of trunk and limbs”. He completed the Fellowship musculoskeletal ultrasonography (2010-2011) at the UMDNJ/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation – USA.

Between 2008-2012, he undertook a Postgraduate specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, at the University of Padua, and developed his thesis “Chronic neck pain: comparison between the traditional rehabilitation treatment and Fascial Manipulation”.

He obtained in 2011-2012 the National Diploma in Ultrasound Clinics, issued by the Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology.

Further, he is Assistant President of the International Association of Physiatrist (ISPRM) and Assistant Professor at Rusk Rehabilitation at the Faculty at New York University.

He is self-employed: carries out the activities related to the medical office; personally makes cadaver dissections for research; committed to anatomy of human bundles research.

Antonio Stecco teaches theory and practice of the Fascial Manipulation method both in Italy and abroad. In this respect, he is:

• Author of various presentations at International Conferences held in all the continents.
• Author of more than 20 in extenso papers about the fascial anatomy and physiology.
• Coauthor of the book entitled “Fascial Manipulation”, published by Piccin in 2010, translated in English.
• Coauthor of some chapters of fascial anatomy in the book entitled ” Fascia in Manual Therapy” (Elsevier, 2010) and in other publications.

Antonio is also founding member and current president of the Fascial Manipulation Association.

Adam has worked in many roles throughout his career, including professional sport, and has been fortunate enough to work with, and learn from some of the worlds leading experts. Adam has helped a wide and diverse range of people return to full function after an injury or episode of pain, and understands the importance of good honest robust rehab for all. As a keen sportsman himself Adam fully understands the passion, dedication and desire all athletes of all abilities have for a speedy return back to performance

Adam has extensive training and clinical experience in orthopaedic medical assessment and treatment, and always looks for the most effective, efficient, and evidence-based approach to help people recover as quickly and safely as possible. His main philosophy is to do the basics really well and save the complex fancy shit for later, if it’s needed at all. Adam strongly believes in a practical and pragmatic approach, and is passionate about educating patients and clinicians on the evidence and effectiveness, or lack of it, for many treatments within the profession.

Adam has lectured for Brunel University on their undergraduate physiotherapy program, and now teaches his own highly acclaimed international courses across the world. He is also actively involved in a number of clinical research projects and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals, and written a chapter for the best selling sports medicine book Clinical Sports Medicine.

Reinout van Vliet is als revalidatiearts geïnteresseerd in de rol van ademhaling binnen de revalidatie. Hij is een ware verbinder en kijkt met een innovatieve blik naar de zorg en naar revalidatie. 

Steven heeft een verleden als topsporter, bekroond met een zilveren medaille tijdens het NK 2007 voor de 400m sprint en als lid van het nationale estafetteteam. Echter, pas jaren later na een levensveranderend ongeval in 2018 ontdekte Steven het ware potentieel van ademhalingstechnieken voor prestatieverbetering, stressreductie, versneld herstel en slaapoptimalisatie.

Steven realiseerde zich dat de sleutel tot optimale gezondheid en topprestaties vaak over het hoofd wordt gezien: de ademhaling. Niet alleen is onze ademhaling de spiegel van onze gezondheid, maar het is ook de toegangspoort tot ons zenuwstelsel en onze interne chemie. Vanaf dat moment is het zijn missie geworden om de kennis van ademhalingstechnieken uit diverse leerscholen verder te verspreiden in de wereld van sport, zorg en educatie. Hij volgde diverse trainingen en opleidingen bij instructeurs van o.a. de Wim Hof Methode, Buteyko, Epiphora Methode en Stig Severinsen.

Steven geeft tegenwoordig workshops en trainingen bij toonaangevende ziekenhuizen (o.a. MST en UMCG), fysiotherapie- en ergotherapiepraktijken, en in is veelgevraagd gastdocent bij o.a Saxion Hogeschool. Zijn multidisciplinaire benadering combineert jaren van topsportervaring met ondernemerschap en een diepgaande kennis van ademhalingsfysiologie. Zijn partners zijn onder andere Pro-F Fysiotherapie, Fyrtuoos Fysiotherapie en Daniels Tandheelkunde. Daarnaast werkte hij reeds met diverse voetbalclubs en spelers uit het betaald voetbal en met topsporters uit de atletiek, auto- en vechtsport.

Amarins studeerde in 2008 af als fysiotherapeut aan de Hogeschool van Groningen waarna ze als praktiserend fysiotherapeut aan de slag ging. Na het behalen van haar bachelor rondde Amarins in 2013 de opleiding Fysiotherapie Wetenschap in Utrecht af. En begin 2021 een parttime promotieonderzoek aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In dit wetenschappelijk onderzoek verdiept ze zich in chronische pijn bij patienten in de eerstelijns praktijk. 

Amarins interesse in chronische pijn ontwikkelde ze al tijdens haar Bachelor opleiding. (Chronische) Pijn is niet één ding. Er zijn vaak meerdere redenen waarom wij als mensen pijn hebben. Aangezien er vaak veel externe componenten betrokken zijn bij het behandelen van (chronische) pijn, blijft elke patiënt een uitdaging

Benoy Mathew, MSc, MCSP, MAACP Ben qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1998 and currently works as an Extended Scope Practitioner in the NHS and privately with running clubs. Clinically, he specialises in the management of difficult musculoskeletal and sports injuries with a particular focus on overuse young hip and knee injuries. Benoy Mathew has a particular passion for identifying and correcting dysfunctional movement patterns that lead to overuse injuries and impair performance in the active population.

Alan Sealy, Bsc (hons), Grad dip Manipulative Physiotherapy, graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 1996, where he also took his post graduate manipulative therapy qualification in 1999. With a background in manual therapy, Alan Sealy now works as a clinical Specialist in Vestibular Rehabilitation. Initially within the NHS, and as a partner in private practice in Sheffield, Alan developed an early interest in dizziness and balance disorders.Whilst on a lecture tour in Norway he was invited to establish ‘Balanseklinikken’, in Oslo. As the Director of Rehabilitation in Scandinavia’s busiest balance clinic, and more recently as Director of Aberdeen Balance Clinic, Alan Sealy has treated and helped over 7000 dizzy patients. This considerable experience is utilized in research and educational courses throughout Scandinavia and the UK. Alan has presented at a number of national and international conferences in the field of vestibular rehabilitation and has had papers published in peer-reviewed journals. Now based in Aberdeen, his time is split between his private practice, lecturing and research.

Matthijs van Speybroeck studeerde in 2015 af als Master of Science in de Revalidatiewetenschappen en Kinesitherapie binnen de afstudeerrichting Sportkinesitherapie (UGent). Hij specialiseerde zich nadien als Manueel therapeut (Ugent) en Myofasciaal therapeut (Trigger). Daarnaast heeft hij een achtergrond in de tennissport met vele jaren ervaring als tennistrainer en kracht-en conditietrainer. Zijn ervaring als sportkinesitherapeut bouwde hij op bij Groep Sam in Bree. Daarnaast heeft Matthijs als kracht en-conditietrainer gewerkt op de Kim Clijsters Tennis academy. Hieruit is zijn specialisatie ontstaan in het behandelen en begeleiden van bovenhandse sporters. Sinds 2022 is Matthijs aan de slag in zijn eigen zaak ‘Praktijk Mobilis’ te Hasselt.

Daarnaast geeft hij regelmatig lezingen en cursussen over sportgerelateerde topics op symposia zoals Limco Sportcongres (Hasselt, 2018), European Open Tennis Conference (Antwerpen 2019), Gastdocent UAntwerpen (Elleboog topics).

Paul De Buck is sinds 2004 werkzaam als kinesitherapeut. Sinds 2008 werkt hij als praktijk assistent en lector Hand Therapie aan de Universiteit Gent, Bachelor en Master of Science aan de vakgroep Revalidaite wetenschappen en kinesitherapie.

Hij behaalde in hetzelfde jaar zijn titel van Master of Science in Manuele Therapy aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 2009 vervolledigde hij zijn opleiding hand revalidatie aan het Medisch Centrum Erasmus Rotterdam, Nederland. Hij is gecerticifeerd bij zowel de Belgische als Nederlandse beroepsvereniging voor hand therapie (BHT, NVHT). Sinds 2015 mag hij zichzelf een European Certified Hand Therapist (ECHT) noemen.

Hij begon als hand therapeut in het Zeeuws Hand en Pols Centrum in Goes in 2010. Tien jaar later wisselde hij van locatie en werd vestingsmanager van de nieuwe vestiging in Terneuzen. 

Naast deze activiteiten is Paul de oprichter en hoofdcoördinator van het postgraduaat hand revalidatie aan de Gentse Universiteit. 

Van 2012 tot 2022 was hij secretaris van de European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (EFSHT). Nu is hij lid van de Website Committee.
