Algemene informatie

Introduction
The Fascial Manipulation® (FM) program consists of four levels of intensive hands-on courses. It combines theoretical lectures, demonstrations and practice between participants throughout each course day.

Participants will learn to evaluate musculoskeletal dysfunctions with specific reference to the human fascial system, and to apply the Fascial Manipulation method as taught by Luigi Stecco, PT. Lectures include the anatomy and physiology of the fascial system, an explanation of the biomechanical model used in application of this technique and the anatomical localization of key fascial points. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions (from history taking, to a hypothesis, to a verification and treatment) together with a methodology and strategy for treatment.

Fascial Manipulation method – course Level II
This course concerns Level 2 (Hybrid), divided into part 2A and 2B, and consists of an on-line and an on-site part:

  • Fascial Manipulation 2A: on-line course. Participants are required to complete the online lessons prior to attending part 2B;
  • Fascial Manipulation 2B: a 3-days’ course in Amsterdam (for 24 hours total); 3, 4 & 5 December 2026

In the Level 2 (Hybrid) course participants expand on their understanding of the biomechanical model to treat patients with multi-segmental dysfunctions more efficiently. As part of the learning process, Level 2 students will be required to present assessment charts of cases treated after Level 1 for discussion.

Part 2A will focus on the role of Centers of Fusion as part of the biomechanical model and the formation of Myofascial Diagonals. Elements of comparative anatomy studies will be introduced to assist the evaluation of adaptive compensations within the fascial system. The involvement of fascia in motor control will discussed and the assessment chart used in Fascial Manipulation® will be updated with new elements.

Part 2B will introduce the Myofascial Spiralsto complete the understanding of complex movement patterns and mechanisms and the latest fascial research projects will be presented. Numerous treatment demonstrations and practice will highlight this course as comparative assessment of Centers of Coordination and Centers of Fusion, Assessment Chart analysis, clinical reasoning, hands-on skills, and treatment strategies will be emphasized.

Learning Objectives Level II:
At the conclusion of the course, the participant should be able to:

• Understand the role of retinacula in proprioception and pain. (Knowledge)
• Differentiate between spiral and diagonal motor disorders based on the assessment process. (Analysis)
• Define a correct treatment strategy to restore the biomechanics of the human body. (Synthesis)
• Evaluate the quality of the retinacula through palpatory verification and treat the appropriate points by restoring the gliding of the retinacula. (Evaluation)

Participants will receive the book ‘Fascial Manipulation, practical part, second level’:

Dr. Antonio Stecco

Between 2001-2007, Antonio Stecco obtained his Degree for Physician and Surgeon at the University of Padua. His thesis concerned “Analytical comparison of the fasciae of trunk and limbs”. He completed the Fellowship musculoskeletal ultrasonography (2010-2011) at the UMDNJ/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation – USA.

Between 2008-2012, he undertook a Postgraduate specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, at the University of Padua, and developed his thesis “Chronic neck pain: comparison between the traditional rehabilitation treatment and Fascial Manipulation”.

He obtained in 2011-2012 the National Diploma in Ultrasound Clinics, issued by the Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology.

Further, he is Assistant President of the International Association of Physiatrist (ISPRM) and Assistant Professor at Rusk Rehabilitation at the Faculty at New York University.

He is self-employed: carries out the activities related to the medical office; personally makes cadaver dissections for research; committed to anatomy of human bundles research.

Antonio Stecco teaches theory and practice of the Fascial Manipulation method both in Italy and abroad. In this respect, he is:

  • Author of various presentations at International Conferences held in all the continents.
  • Author of more than 20 in extenso papers about the fascial anatomy and physiology.
  • Coauthor of the book entitled “Fascial Manipulation”, published by Piccin in 2010, translated in English.
  • Coauthor of some chapters of fascial anatomy in the book entitled ” Fascia in Manual Therapy” (Elsevier, 2010) and in other publications.

Antonio is also founding member and current president of the Fascial Manipulation Association.
